The One

If you are lucky in life, you will find "the one".   Someone with whom your heart and soul connects.  If you are very lucky, "the one" will be a cat.  If you are extremely lucky, you will find more than one "the one".

Captain was "the one" for me so it is with mixed feelings that I tell you he was adopted today.  And no, it was not by me.

Captain went home with a great family.  I was so happy I was able to meet them.  They are a younger couple with two dogs and another cat at home.  When I walked into the room to meet the couple, Captain was lying on the wife's lap like jello.  I knew immediately that Captain had found his "one".

Everyone is probably asking why didn't I just adopt Captain?  Unfortunately, timing isn't always right when you meet "the one".  Recently, I took a new job.  With that came working more hours.

I felt like I had to chose between keeping Captain or fostering more cats.  I knew Captain would find someone else who would love him as much as I do and I know I can make a difference in this world by fostering.

So tonight I'll cry both sad and happy tears.  Tomorrow, I'll start saving the world again one kitten at a time.

  2. I was voting for him to stay with you but I understand why he isn't. Hope his new family loves him as much as all of us do.

  8. Lucky little Captain - to have learned all about love from you, and now to find more love in a forever home. Fostering is wonderful work but there's a lot of sadness along with the happiness of a successful adoption.....you connect with those little lost souls - but you show them that humans CAN be trusted and it's a VERY important thing for them to learn. Bless you - I know it's not easy to let them "fly".

    Hugs, Pam

  9. We know Captain will be happy in his new home. And you ar wonderful for realizing that even though Captain may have been your "one," you could do more in helping other kitties find their "ones."

  12. ((((hugs))))) I am glad Captain found a good home too, but my heart breaks for you. Cody isn't a special needs kitty, but when I adopted him, his foster Mom was like you, both happy and sad. She told me he had been her favorite and while she was happy, she was also sad. catchatwithcarenandcody

  13. OH man, you got Mum at it now......

OK * deep breff * as our Dash Kitten used to say. Thank you for being there to foster Captain, for having the courage to be the one and hand him over to his forever home. You are amazing and wonderful to do so. Captain has found his one.

Good luck with the new work, we hope its fun, enjoyable and a good reward for your kindness.
