Visiting Team

Gus:  A couple weeks ago, Emmy transferred to another school.  When her coach had to go out of town for a conference, Emmy asked if she and the rest of the team could stay with us.

Of course, we said yes!   Emmy couldn't wait to introduce the rest of the team!

First up is Hemi.  Hemi fell out of moving car engine.  Luckily, a Good Samaritan saw it happen, was able to swerve to miss hitting Hemi, stopped to pick him up and took him to Great Plains SPCA.

Lastly, there is Jill.  Someone found her in a bucket and brought her to Great Plains SPCA.

Laynie loves having some kittens to play with.  Here are some more photos of all the cuteness here at Purr's Training Acatemy.

Laynie

Gus:  We forgot we hadn't done a blog post to introduce you to our newest student.  We would you like you to meet Laynie.  Laynie is named after Marlayna, the daughter of the Mama's cousin who is a freshman this year at Ozark Christian College.

It has been quite the week for Laynie.  Laynie was abandoned by her mother.  Someone knew of this family of kittens.  They saw the mom move the other kittens but she didn't come back for Laynie.  After two days, the Good Samaritan called Great Plains SPCA.

At Great Plains SPCA, Laynie was treated by the wonderful vets.  Laynie had an awful upper respiratory infection and was covered with fleas.  They were able to treat both of those things.

They knew we were great nurses in addition to being spectacular teachers so they called us to take care of her.  The biggest difficulty was that Laynie had only been fed by her mommy.  She didn't know how to eat out of a bowl and she couldn't smell the food in it.  We made a kitten milk and cat food slurry and fed her with a syringe.  She also slept all the time.

Finally, Laynie started feeling better towards the end of the week.  She learned how out to eat out of a bowl fairly quickly and she also started playing.

Laynie still isn't 100% yet but she is definitely getting better!
