No Selfies Today

Gus:  We had planned to have a HUGE post today for Sunday Selfie Day to announce the birth of our new students.  The babies were born Monday.  We thought we would have lots of selfies by now of three to five kittens and their proud Mom, Tawny.

Unfortunately, someone (glares at Jaq) tried to get a sneak peek of the babies.  Tawny wasn't too happy about it.  There was a slight altercation.

The next time the Mama went into the room Tawny came charging at her and bit her leg.  The Mama is just fine but it scared her.  Now if Tawny is in the box with her babies (which is in a corner behind a bed hidden from view of the door) there is only growling. If Tawny is taking a break from the demanding youngsters, she charges at the Mama as soon as she sees her.  Unfortunately, the Mama never knows what is going to happen when she opens the door.

Needless to say, we haven't been able to take any selfies of the babies.  We aren't even positive how many babies there are.  (We think there are four.)

The shelter's Feline Behaviorist is coming to the house next week to assess the situation.  We know Tawny is a very protective mom and possibly a bit hormonal.  We think she may have been traumatized by the incident with Jaq.  The Behaviorist will determine what is best for Tawny and the babies.  It may be moving them to a new home that doesn't have such a negative association.  We'll keep you posted.

Confessions of a Naughty Cat

Jaq:  So...I may have done something I shouldn't have.  I only had the best of intentions but things didn't turn out the way I expected.

Remember how I said didn't want help Tawny, the mom cat with her babies?  Well, I was feeling a little guilty about that so I snuck in the foster room to see how she was doing.

Wrong move!  Who knew moms could be so protective?  Yikes!  She still won't let the Mama get close to look at the babies.  We think there are four but we don't know for sure.  This is the only glimpse we've gotten of them.

Hopefully, Tawny will forgive me and let us get a peek of the babies soon!

We're Expecting Selfies!

Gus:  We are on baby watch here at Purr's Training Acatemy.  No babies yet, but mom-to-be, Tawny Kitaen has agreed to share some baby bump selfies.

Jaq:  Uh uh!  No way!  No how!  I ain't birthin' no babies!

Pearl:  I was spayed so I wouldn't have to deal with this type of thing!

Gus:  I know, I know!  This wasn't part of the deal when opened our Training Acatemy.  We were only to train homeless, motherless kittens to be lovable and adoptable.  But the Mama has decided to expand our mission to help expecting, unwed, teenage moms.  She has assured me we won't have to do anything.  The Moms will do all the work.

Our first Mom is here.  Meet Tawny Kitaen.

Her babies are due any day.  The shelter staff thinks there will be four to five babies.

So beginning now we are on baby watch.  Stay tuned!
