Adoption Selfies on Monday

Gus:  Someone (looking at Mama) was slacking over the weekend and we missed the Sunday Selfies.
We have some exciting adoption selfies.  Both Alexa and Erica were adopted this weekend!

All of the Kansas City Royal Kittens have been adopted!!!  But I still can't seem to get rid of them.  Dani now Bellatrix and Purrez now Pippen are staying with us.  Their new mom is on vacation so we are kitten sitting.  Only one more day and then we are kitten free.  Bring on semester break!

Pippen and Bellatrix

The most exciting adoption though was that of Pearl's boyfriend and Mama's intern, Ebony.   Ebony was adopted after almost 600 days in the shelter!

Ebony waiting to meet his new mom for the first time.

Ebony supervising his own adoption.
The volunteers had a Going Home Party for Ebony where there were lots of happy tears.

And lots of hugs!
Ebony was ready to go home!  He got in the carrier all by himself.
Ebony left in style - riding shotgun in a convertible on a beautiful, fall, Kansas City day!

And they all lived happily ever after!

Mama's Intern - Ebony

Pearl:  OH MY COD, KITTIES!  You will never guess who is the Mama's intern this week.

That's right!  It's EBONY!  Yes, the same Ebony that we've talked about before.  Yes the same Ebony I have a huge crush on.

I know!  I have no idea either how a handsome mancat like Ebony is STILL available for adoption at Great Plains SPCA.

590 days in a shelter (no matter how amazing that shelter is) is far too long for anyone.

Can you help us help Ebony find a home?

Ebony's office skills are exceptional!  Today, Ebony was helping Mama with user acceptance testing of the software she is working on.

Ebony has exceptional social media skills.  He has a Facebook page and is on LinkedIn.

If you would like to help Ebony and the other animals at Great Plains SPCA, please consider making a donation.  In 2011, Great Plains SPCA served 10,000 animals.  In 2014, they served 35,000.  Donations did not increase proportionally.  They are now in crisis and need your help.  Any amount will help make a difference in the lives of homeless pets.

Mama's Intern - Reeses

Gus:  This week Mama's intern was a cool cat named Reeses.  Reeses is available for adoption at Great Plains SPCA's Merriam Campus.

Reeses is one goofy cat!  His crazy antics amused everyone in the office.

He sure had some crazy sleeping positions!

Boy, does he have a loud purr motor!

Reeses spent a good part of his work week supervising from above.

He had to supervise Walter the dog as well.

Not to mention, trying his balancing skills on the tops of the cubicles.

Reeses has A LOT of energy.  Having an office to run around in was great fun for him.  He can't wait until he has a big home to run around in.

Reeses loves people!  He was always sad to see his co-workers go home for the evening.

But he was always really happy when they came back the next morning!

Reeses will definitely make someone a great cat!  If you are looking for some entertainment, go to Great Plains SPCA in Merriam to meet Reeses!

Mama's Intern - Sally

This past week, Mama's intern was a pretty kitty named Sally.  Sally is a 10 year old lady cat that is available for adoption at Great Plains SPCA.

She did a great job supervising the Mama.  Sally gave us daily reports by rubbing against the Mama's laptop.

Everyone that came into the office gave Sally some pets and were amazed at what a chill cat she is.  Sally even tolerated the dog...from her perch above.

We would recommend Sally for any position from office cat to best friend!

Internship Program - Flopsy

Great Plains SPCA has an internship program...for cats.  It is a program in which local businesses foster cats.  It helps reduce stress for employees and gives the cats a break from the shelter.

Since the Mama now works in a pet-friendly office, she "hired" her first intern.  Meet Flopsy.

Flopsy is a six year old tabby.  Flopsy came to Great Plains SPCA with an injured leg.  The doctors decided she would be better off without that leg.

Even though Flopsy gets along just fine without the leg she hasn't been able to get enough exercise to strengthen her remaining legs.  That is one of the reasons why she applied for the internship program.

Part of Flopsy's job duties includes walking the entire length of the building several times a day to ensure that all her co-workers are in their offices working.  Flopsy takes her time going from office to office.  She likes to flirt with the gentlemen.  Unfortunately, the rest of the time Flopsy sleeps on the job.

This internship is invaluable experience for Flopsy.  Hopefully, it will give her the strength to find a permanent job as someone's best friend.
