Can't Buy Me Love

The Beatles Kittens are now available for adoption!  They are at the adoption center at Great Plains SPCA in Merriam.

They weren't very excited about it but having some wet food made it better, at least temporarily.  Hopefully, they will be adopted quickly!

The Beatles Kittens would like to remind you that you can't buy love but you can adopt it!

Back to School

That's right, the Beatles Kittens are STILL with us. They had their second FIV tests on Thursday.  Two of them passed (they are FIV negative).  We are still waiting on the results for the other two.  We hope they pass too so that these guys can graduate to their forever families.  No, we REALLY can't wait for them to graduate!!!!   They are like rowdy teenagers.  They no longer pay attention in class.  I don't know what we are going to do with them!  Please purr that they all pass their tests soon.

Things We Love #ChewyInfluencer

Gus:  These minions students eat a lot!  When Chewy offered to send us a Blue Buffalo Wilderness variety pack, we didn't turn them down!

The variety pack comes with three flavors - Duck, Chicken and Salmon.

It is high in protein and 100% grain-free.  Both things that growing kittens need.

The Mama likes it because it doesn't make the kittens gassy like other food and their poo doesn't stink quite as bad.

We weren't really concerned whether or not the kittens would like the food.  They like almost everything.

Instead we thought we would do a taste test to see if they liked a specific flavor more than the others.

So which one did they like best?

Whatever kind their brother was eating!

I tried all of the flavors as well.  Someone had to lick the bowls clean!  All flavors were delicious!

We love Chewy.com!  They have excellent customer service and their auto-ship feature makes it convenient to get things we use all the time like cat litter!

Wanna know the best part of ordering from Chewy?  The boxes!  We used a Chewy box to make the yellow submarine for the Beatles kittens.  They still have a a blast playing in it!

An Encore Performance

The band is back together at Purr's Training Acatemy for an encore performance.  They were neutered (more on that later) on Thursday.  While they were there, they were tested for FIV.  Unfortunately, three out of the four tested positive for FIV.  Because of this they were retested.  They are back with us while we are waiting the results from the lab.

Hopefully, the test will come back negative but even if it doesn't that doesn't mean the kittens have FIV.  Kittens can carry FIV antibodies from their mother for up to six months.  They do not necessarily have the actual virus. When testing they check for antibodies not the virus.  So even if these results are positive, they will keep testing over the next couple months to see if they've shed the antibodies from their mother.

Unfortunately, Kansas where we are located is the only state in the country that doesn't allow shelters to adopt out FIV+ cats.  If the results from the lab come back as positive, the Beatles Kittens will need to be transferred to another state.  Any shelter or rescue group outside of Kansas want four super sweet possibly FIV+ kittens?  ;)

I promised to tell you more about the Beatles Kittens being neutered.  Everyone but Paul was neutered on Thursday.  Don't worry!  Paul was altered as well but SHE was spayed.  Paul is actually Paula.  That's right!  Paula is a girl!  We don't know what the Mama saw when she checked the gender but she missed that one and didn't check again.  Oops!  Surprise!

The Beatles Kittens are saying goodbye to our school and hello to their new families.  They will be neutered and then headed to Great Plains SPCA's Merriam Adoption Center.  If you know anyone looking for some sweet boy kitties, these guys will be a great addition to any home.
