#TBT - Shay

Gus:  For Throwback Thursday, I thought I would share some of last year's Easter photos of our friends at Great Plains SPCA.  The Mama has been slacking so she didn't get any Easter photos this year of our shelter friends.

This photo is of Shay.  Shay was adopted last June.  Shay was found as a feral kitten.  She spent her first year at a school for vet techs where they practiced procedures on her.  Needless to say, Shay didn't really like humans that much.  Shay spent over year at Great Plains.  She had never lived in a home.  Some great foster parents shared their home with Shay and taught her how wonderful it was to be part of a family.  A couple weeks after returning to the shelter Shay found her furrever home!   It just goes to show you that there is a home for everykitty.  Some kitties just need a little extra time and help.

#TBT - Almost Time

Jaq:  It's almost time!  Kittens are being born all over.  We can't wait to get a new litter of students.  The mama is hoping to get a call any day.  Since it is Throwback Thursday and you might be going into kitten withdrawal like our mama, we thought we would show a picture of some of our graduates.

#TBT and National Tell a Fairy Tale Day

Once upon a time, in the Kingdom of Kansas, there lived a Princess named Pearl.

Princess Pearl, her mother and brother were caught by a scary man named Animal Control Officer.  They were taken to a place called an Animal Shelter where they were put in a cage.   It was warm and cozy at the animal shelter.  They had plenty of food but they didn't know what was going to happen to them.

One day a family came and took Princess Pearl's brother.  Another day a different family took Princess Pearl's mother.  Princess Pearl was all alone.  She was very afraid.

Soon a woman came to the animal shelter to meet Princess Pearl.   The woman was nice.  She held and petted Pearl.  Then she said she wanted to be Pearl's new mama.   She took Princess Pearl to a big castle and introduced her to her new brothers, Freddie and Gus.

And they lived happily ever after!

Gus:  For Throwback Thursday, I thought I would share some pictures of a very handsome kitten...ME!

Don't I look fierce?  Take that, daisy! (It's not a real daisy.)

I love my Teddy!

Me and my Uncle Tubby.  I miss him!

#TBT: The First Minion

Gus:  Since it is Throwback Thursday, I thought I would tell you about our first minion.  It was October of 2012.  I knew something was up.  Mama would come home smelling like other cats.  She called it “volunteering” but we knew she was cheating on us.  Then one day she came home with a transporter.  In it was a catten named Asher.  Mama said the other volunteers affectionately called him the devil cat.
Doesn't this picture look like a mugshot?
I wasn't too happy about a newcomer, but mama assured me I would continue to be the Chief Cat Officer.  He was only going to be here temporarily.  I would always be her favorite Little Guy.  She said it was our moral obligation to help those less fortunate.  He needed my help to teach him how to be a good cat.  Blah, blah, blah.  All I know is that she made me in charge.  I was all powerful and he was my minion.  It didn't take long to whip the boy into shape.  He just needed some exercise.  He was a spaz.  After a regimented workout routine, I finally calmed him down.
Then I was able to give him some lessons on how to be cuddly.  Mama was so impressed that I was worried that she was going make the minion a permanent member of the family.
Then one day Mama put him in the transporter and took him back to a place called The Shelter. She came home crying but guess who was there to comfort her.  That’s right.  Me!  I got lots of lovin.  She told me later that he was adopted.  He had his very own family and it was all because of my training.

But the best thing was that I was still her favorite Little Guy.  Maybe this helping others isn't such a bad thing.

That is how the Purr's Training Acatemy was formed. Our work was just beginning but first I must take a cat nap.
