A Cat's Thank You to Veterans

Gus:  Kittens, we have an important lesson today.  Today is Veterans' Day, a day in which we honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Without our veterans we wouldn't enjoy the freedoms we have today.  Without them it is possible we wouldn't be able to teach you or write our blog.

Its not only humans we need to thank.  You may hear quite a bit about dogs in the military.  Dogs throughout the years have been used for detection, tracking, and scouting, among other things.

Now you may be thinking, what about cats?  Well, you won't hear about them very often, but cats have served in the military as well.  For centuries, cat have served in the Navy keeping ships free of rodents.  In WWI, cats were essential in keeping mice out of the trenches.  They were also companions and mascots increasing the morale of the troops.  During the Cold War, cats were implanted with bugging devices and were used as spies.  They've played an important part in our history.

So to all of our veterans, both the two legged and four legged ones, thank you for your service and the sacrifices that you have made to protect all of our freedoms.

Thank you!
