You're Hired!

Gus:  You're hired!  That is a phrase that 79 cats at Great Plains SPCA heard this week during Cat Unemployment Awareness Week.

One of the newly employed is our very own Tracey!  Tracey wasn't all that happy to go back to the shelter and then an hour later be put back in a carrier as you can see from her selfie.

But Tracey knew what she was doing when she refused to go back to the shelter last week.  Why spend the week at the shelter when her new family would be waiting for her today?

Tracey's new family has worked with shyer cats before.  It is the purrfect situation for her and she will be very loved!  We couldn't be happier for her!

Cat Unemployment may be a humorous way to look at pet overpopulation, but it is a serious issue.  79 adoptions is a great number, but Great Plains SPCA still has over 300 cats in their care.  Last year at the height of kitten season, Great Plains had almost 800 cats in their care.

Spaying and neutering is key in making a dent in the problem.  It is also essential to support your local shelter by adopting or donating. Please do what you can to help.  Thank you!
