Meow Meetup Adventures - The Drive

Last weekend, the Mama and I drove to Chicago for the Meow Meetup Cat Convention and to hang out with our cat blogger friends.

We left the Thursday before the convention.  It was a really long drive!

We stopped every couple hours so the Mama could use the human litter box.  On the way there, it was so hot, I had to go inside the rest area with her.  Sssshhh!  Don't tell anyone.  Pets weren't allowed at this rest area but she wasn't going to leave me in a hot car.

This photo was a rest area in Illinois looking at the Mississippi River into Iowa.  Isn't it pretty?

When we finally got to the hotel, I wasn't sure what to think!  I didn't leave my carrier for quite awhile.  When I finally did, I went right under the bed!

I eventually came out to sleep with the Mama.  That king sized bed was kind of nice.  Especially, since I didn't have to share with my brother and sister!

Gus's Travel Tips
1.  If the trip is more than a couple hours, have a litter box available during stops.
2.  Have fresh water available.
3.  Never leave your cat in a hot car, even if it is just for a couple minutes.  Try stopping at pet friendly rest areas, gas stations or hotels.
4.  Make sure your hotel is pet friendly.
5.  Put the "do not disturb" sign on the door so no one accidentally lets your pet out of the room.
6.  Bring some comforts from home such as a blankie, snuggler, or bed.

Stay tuned for more of my adventures at Meow Meetup!

  2. Gus, I took a bazillion photos of you in your hotel room; I'll show them off at a later date. It was much fun meeting you, but glad that I wasn't in the room when you woke everyone up early...LOL!
